Atlantic/East Pacific Extended Best Track Database

#1 Postby Ptarmigan » Sat Sep 27, 2008 4:57 pm

Here is a website where you can get wind radii of hurricanes based on the best track database.

ftp://rammftp.cira.colostate.edu/demaria/ebtrk/
ftp://rammftp.cira.colostate.edu/demari ... oradii.txt
ftp://rammftp.cira.colostate.edu/demari ... k_atlc.txt
ftp://rammftp.cira.colostate.edu/demari ... k_epac.txt

Hurricane Gilbert had TS winds extending up to 250 nautical miles (nm) or 290 miles and hurricane force winds extending up to 150 nm or 175 miles from the eye. This is when it was in the Gulf of Mexico. It also has the largest radius of the outer closed isobar at 555 nm or 640 miles.

According to the database, when Wilma was at 892 mb and 155 mph winds, the ambient pressure was 1009 mb.
