Hi folks, I am new to this forum and am totally an amateur weather watcher...I live on Gavlatraz....considering how quickly Grace formed, is there a significant possibility of her turning stronger on us to hurricane? Unfortunately (at times like these) :? I am one of the east enders here....oops I meant west enders <blushing>

I'm learning too, and while I'm not ready to say Grace is likely going to become a hurricane, I wouldn't be surprised if it became one just before it makes landfall. The fact that it has strengthened as quickly as it has would make me concerned if I lived in Texas.
Right now I'll guess 60 to 65 mph TS at landfall, but I'm going to wait and see what happens.

I'm with Andrew on this .... I just think there isn't enough time to reach Hurricane Status but I could be wrong.... This did develop real quick this morning. I first started to see the flareup of convection shortly before I went to bed at 3:45 CDT this morning. At that point I knew it was developing. Still gonna bring heavy rain... but now wind might become a factor too along with some sort of storm surge.

I doubt Grace reaches hurricane status ... the movement to the NW is relatively quick towards the coast plus the overall hybrid look to the system. Big time heavy rain producer and some gusty winds on the eastern side of the storm.
This storm looks so much like Allison with the exception of the slow movement.

COOL!!! I actually just go to college in Grand Rapids, but I'm there so much that I would rather consider that my home town on message boards, especially since my home town is really small.
Anyway, this may pull a slight "Allison," but probably not as much flooding this time, at least I hope not. Probably no hurricane, but it will fight to become as strong as it can.
