Some info from my script today.
he seasonal front that has been dropping a staggering amount of rain in Japan is still lingering in the region. What its doing is being quasi-stationary lifting south then back north and along it one bust of thunderstorms after another. And thus more heavy rain could be possible in western and even portions of eastern Japan. Specifically in Northern Kyushu an additional 2CM on top of the already saturated soil here could fall. Some storms even could produce nearly 50-70mm of rainfall in an hour. On Saturday expect this to lift north in to Northern Honshu where you could feel the effects of heavy rains and then on Sunday high pressure will finally build in bringing a more pleasant end to your weekend.
This will only make the situation worst as the death toll nears 20 in Western Japan.
Meanwhile in Korea where drought has been plaguing the region will get some relief as the same frontal area lifts north taking the rain showers and thunderstorms with it. Unfortunately the dry ground here may allow for quick water runoff triggering flash flooding. On top of that be on guard for hail and gusty winds.
If this front wasn’t being a pain enough in Japan and Korea well China, your sharing in its impact. Hubei saw 2 1/2 cm in the past 24hrs and now more rainfall could add up to that same total in to Saturday. Yet similar situation as Japan this region has seen the heavy rainfall for several days now and that piles up and leads to the risk of flash flooding and landslides.
