As we all know, today marks the Official end of the 2012 Hurricane Season for the North Atlantic and Caribbean. As the saying goes, "What a long strange trip it's been".
While there may (or may not be) a straggler storm, for the most part, it's over. The fat lady is warming up in the wings.

Historic note:
When I was a kid (1950s) the official NWS hurricane season ran from June 15-Nov15.
I believe they lengthened it to exactly six months to accommodate easier scheduling and contracts for seasonal employees.
