Apples and Oranges question?
I have always been confused in which NC should be considered. Is it in the Southeast or Mid-Atlantic.
In Wikipedia it seems that VA is in both, but not NC. But, it is sometimes considered in the Mid-Atlantic climate.
So, maybe the mets can help clear things up. Is NC included in the Mid-Atlantic pertaining to tropical threats or the Southeast, or both?

I'd consider NC to be in the Mid Atlantic states. But it also borders on the southeast.

Re: Apples and Oranges question?
Distance-wise, the Outer Banks of NC are exactly half way between south Florida and Maine, so NC is right in the middle of the U.S. Atlantic coast. That should qualify it as a Mid Atlantic state. I consider the Mid Atlantic to be from the SC/NC border north to NJ.

Mid-Atlantic...along with VA, MD and DE. NJ up I consider NE. Do any teams in NC play in the SEC? According to my son no so that makes NC a mid Atlantic state.....MGC

Man...state lines and other geopolitical boundaries make for pretty arbitrary classifications.
From Cape Hatteras northward, shares much with Virginia. E/NE facing, cool climate influenced by northerly current coming down the coast, upwelling, dark blue murky water.
From Cape Hatteras southward, shares much with South Carolina, E/SE facing, warmer gulfstream influenced climate, greener clearer water, lowcountry cuisine.

Using that logic (SEC teams), Texas is a Southeast U.S. state.

Often times during discussions from the CPC/HPC I recall North Carolina mostly being mentioned with the southeastern states. I'm sure there's no definitive boundaries but that's where I see them most. Mid-Atlantic discussions often is mentioned with areas/states that have rivers dumping out into Chesapeake Bay and/or Delaware Bay (Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, southern Jersey, eastern PA).

Seeing as I live in Seattle, which is almost 3000 miles away, my opinion is probably not the best in the world, but I consider it as both.
