:?: For Johnston County,North Carolina---Zip Code 27557 they are saying we could have wind gusts of 108 MPH!!!! Is this likely or is this a mistake?????We had 108 MPH wind gusts and higher with Fran in 1996 but Izzy doesn't seem to have her act together. Any thoughts????? Thanks.

This is still a definite possiblity unless Isabel continues to weaken. She currently appears to be regrouping and may reintensify some prior to landfall on thursday. Her sustained winds are still at 115 mph with gust to 140 mph. Still a dangerous hurricane.

If Isabel deepens explosively as she crosses the Gulf Stream (as Hugo did in 1989), you could see 115 mph gusts in Johnson county.....if she doesn't, winds might not gust to 60 there..

Hello Howlin
I am in N. Raleigh also. I can't decide whether to evac my mom from Ocean Isle Beach to here in Raleigh , or join her to get out of the way! :D
She came up here for Fran and was stuck in the subdivision )with no electricity) for 3 days due to downed trees on the street. OIB was just fine!

My niece is sitting in a house across from the Oceanic Pier at Wrightsville Beach!

And I don't know what to do either, so I'm here trying to figure out what everybody is thinking!

I do NOT like those winds in Johnson County though!

I got the information on the winds at accuweather.com, by typing in my zipcode and you can check the wind fields at wral.com and the national weather service. Take care and good luck with your mom and sister. I hope Izzy will not effect us but I have a bad feeling.....
