Not official yet, but it should be retired when the NHC meets to decide such things, usually after the season is over.

I recall that Mitch wasn't officially retired until the winter after that season.

Whenever a hurricane has had a major impact, any country affected by the storm can request that the name of the hurricane be "retired" by agreement of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

I believed Isabel should be retired after the 2nd time she reached Category 5 status..

It'll be interesting to see what the NHC decides.. by the way.. Have they found a replacement for Lili yet..? I know Andrea is replacing Allison..

The NHC has no say as to whether a name is retired besides recommending a storm for retirement. The final decision is made by the UN (WMO) and we all know how great the UN is

I think the 2009 "I" name oughta be Ilene or Ivory, should Isabel get retired.

I don't know if they found a replacement name for Lili. I thought one time I saw that Laura would replace Lili, but I'm not entirely sure about that. My pick for the name replacing Lili, had it been my choice, would have been Lori.

I like Lori... and Ivory is nice too.. Both good names for the storms...
