1893 Hurricane Season

#1 Postby AtlanticWind » Sun Jul 12, 2020 2:16 am

Was just looking at some hurricane seasons from the 1800's and came across 1893.
Could not imagine a season like that now, 4 hurricanes active at once .Hurricanes hit NYC,Charleston ,Savannah,
Puerto Rico, and Louisiana was hit twice.

Just scary how things can go very badly in a given season.

Yes indeed, 1893 was one incredible and devastating season! The ACE was huge too due to those long-track majors.

the 1893 sea islands (GA) hurricane was the last storm to strike the US from that far flung east origination point...until Irma 2017. Yet another reminder that TC randomness operates on a time scale that greatly exceeds human lifetimes..
