Tropical storm Odette, the 15th named tropical system has formed in the central Caribbean this December 4th, 2003. The last tropical system that displayed an origin or formed in December was back in 1984 with Hurricane Lili from December 12-24, 1984. There were two storms since 1984 that formed in November and lasted into December. A relatively rare occurance.

Odette is moving towards the northeast at near 10 mph, but a turn toeards the north is expected over the next 12-24 hours. Minimum central pressure is 1003 mb or 29.62 inches.
Tropical storm watches are up this evening for the Dominican Republic west of Santo Domingo, the southeastern Bahamas, and the Turk and Caicos Islands. A tropical storm watch means tropical storm conditions are possible within 36 hours. The government of Jamaica has issued tropical storm warnings for Jamaica. A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Haiti also. A tropical storm warning means tropical storm conditions are expected in 24 hours or less. A tropical storm watch or warning maybe needed for eastern Cuba later today.
Another update later tonite.
