Hurricane Information

In the last 100 years Fla, has been hit with 57 Hurricanes!
"CATEGORY"1, 17 2, 16 3, 17 4, 5 5, 2=57 Times.

Fl. Is the only state on east coast to be hit with a Cat 5.
In 1900 A Hurricane hit Galveston Killing 12,000 people.
The Worst Tropical Storm Was Allison dumping 35" Of
Rain On Houston.The Lowest Pressure Reading in the
US was in 1935 892 Mbs.Just some facts I picked up.

Hey HurricaneGirl i got that same book..lol...its really good. Gives you the landfalls of many hurricanes dating back to the late 1800s. 8-)

Actually, it's 2 cat 5's with Andrew's post-analysis upgrade.

What I find interesting about these figures is that out of the 57 'canes, 42% were majors! I don't know the national average off the top of my head, but that seems to be an abnormally large percentage.

This could be an interesting season. We here in Central Florida are well overdue. When I get my hurricane survival guide in late May/early June.. I'm going to peak at the list of shelters just in case..

Since I live on the 3rd floor of my apt. building.. I would have to find lower ground.. Yes I said LOWER ground lol..
