Are there any years where the 1st 2 hurricanes were major...

In 1980, hurricane Allen reached cat-5 status (190 mph/ 899 mb). The next named storm was hurricane Bonnie. Bonnie was also a major hurricane, peaking at 115 mph (960 mb).

Seeing Allen always cracks me up... My husband, Alan, was born in January 1980... and I always have to do a double take.

Oops....my mistake. I got 1980 hurricanes Bonnie and Frances mixed up. That's what I get for posting from memory and not checking my 1980 hurricane chart first
