Gusts to 50 mph and brief heavy rain
Squalls continue to move over the coastal waters and come ashore between South Volusia and Martin counties. Radar has estimated wind gusts to 50 mph over water and near the coast... and to 45 mph away from the coast. The gusts to 45 mph and heavy rain have reached inland to at least Interstate 95. Continued brief heavy rain has many retention ponds nearing or at capacity with some starting to spill over into the surrounding area. An Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory is in effect until 9 PM.

I'm having flashbacks to Claudette from '08.

Right now is just a mid level vorticity, but that's where the surface low may move underneath or reform underneath it tomorrow, like the euro has been showing, IMO.

Still a band of 45-50 DBZ convection in a line from KAMX south for 85 nm, it just keeps churning and redeveloping, the radar has been amazing. Must be just killing anybody in Hawk Channel off the Upper Keys and in Biscayne Bay. And it's Columbus Day Regatta weekend.
Thunder's been rummmmbling since like 2 pm. Big cells like 10 miles east of me offshore.

Drove through a very heavy squall in the Weston area. Torrential rains and very gusty winds. Just watched a local news channel that said another 5-6 inches possible over the next 24-36 hours. We are also under a Flood Watch until tomorrow night.

Looks like it's going to be a subtropical low covering a very large area. Will take a while to organize.

How much more rain do you think we in E. Central FL will get? Ditches are already over flowing here in Melbourne/Palm Bay

We've had over 6" here in southern Dade, per earlier news reports. I'll be very interested to hear final rain totals. We've had a few windy periods, but mostly just rain. One tornado warning earlier this afternoon, and a flash flood warning through the evening. I will be very happy when the rain is gone

Man oh man! Just got back from the beach at Fort Lauderdale in the region between Atlantic and Commercial blvd, what a storm! Subtropical, tropical, autumnal, whatever this thing is called at the end, I can say it has kicked butt so far. The winds were somewhere between 35 and 50 mph during the squalls at 10-10:30 pm when I was at the coast to watch the storm. The surf is also quite agitated as if a tropical storm were near. The rain is not letting up here in Broward as of midnight. If there were no satellites and no weather stations farther south like in the old days, this thing could have been confused with a strong Tropical Storm passing to our south! Lookout for flooding by tomorrow if this continues.

Breezy, strong gusts, heavy rain, and steady moderate rain this late afternoon. Cool.

This system is just what the doctor has ordered for us in Florida. Something to give us weather enthusists some excitement and something to replenish the water table. Hopefully some of this that is falling will end up in Lake O.
