I was watching teevee from Tampa Bay over the internet as Frances passed through the area. The teevee people kept saying the same dumb things over and over. Having lived in Tampa Bay in the past I wanted to know what was happening. I thought to myself, "I wonder if there is a place on line where people share damage reports?" Using Google I found S2K. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I do like what I have found.

Found it on a web search from Yahoo or Google. If I remeber correctly the search string was "Hurricane Track Model" Brought me to a message with one of Dereks forcast before Frances. My parents live in Sarasota and Grandmother (93) in Titusville. I was trying to talk them into evacuating before Frances. They did and are in Atlanta. Course they are without power as Frances decided to follow them here. Now they are trying to decide if they will go back and risk Ivan. At the moment all are leaning toward staying.

I have been lurking for a week and now set my schedule at home and work by the discussion updates at the 5's and 11's.

Great site.

Stumbled onto this bulletin board via a Google search on: hurricane spaghetti models.

I was interested in seeing what the models referred to in the nhc bulletins looked like. I'm finding these discussions equally as interesting.

I found a home

#106 Postby Tsunami » Wed Sep 08, 2004 4:40 pm

I know my wife thought I was the only weather nut in the world. Until I googled "hurricane computer models" and I found a new home. She is threatening to log on under my name and tell you all embarrassing stories about me, so that no one takes my thoughts seriously. But in all seriousness, its a great site.

I was at the palmbeachpost.com board looking for information on Charley -- someone asked where MWatkins was and someone else pointed to this board. ;)

was looking for the old "Lowes" site storm2000.com, found it was no longer in existence. Tried several variations of that URL and hit storm2k.org

I find the forum to be the best source of educated hurricane guesses on the Internet!!

Break - Break -

...Link was passed on to me from a Coast Guard buddy in St. Pete, Florida...been here ever since.

It's hard to make a decision to evacuate millions$$ worth of surface assets based on Jim Cantore's hype....or "fair and balanced" forecasting...

Thanks for all assistance "unknowingly" provided, but more importantly, thanks for keeping it professional.

USCG Out!

I saw the link in a discussion at fodors.com, a travel site. Think I've learned more in the past 2 weeks or so about hurricanes than I ever knew (or wanted to know   )
