Or it could mean something else. Marco has never been a major before, but the 1996 version was quite a little fighter. 8-)

That's the funny irony, Marco has always been a little guy, remember the 2008 version? And oh yeah the 1996 version was quite a little fighter! pulling off all those moves in the Caribbean that November. 13 days as a named storm in the Caribbean, on Nov 13-26, imagine that. I remember the epic winds that storm along with a High pressure to the north helped bring to the east coast of FL that month! never saw the sea so rough for so long as then in Ft Lauderdale.

Could Marco show off a more war-like nature this year? Or will he be yet again a small storm system? Will be fun to see what this future named storm does.

The only thing I want is Marco and Polo existing simultaneously, but since the EPac is probably going to be on the quiet side this year, I’m doubting it’ll even get to P.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

I had no idea that Cristobal was the Spanish version of Christopher. My first and middle name appear on this list in one of their forms, and this was the list used the year I was born. Apparently this is "my list."

I can see Gonzalo being a big one in August - early September due to the fact I'm still leaning towards increased activity. I also hope Nana is used for a name-waster. I don't find any names particularly scary/not scary, but Nana is definitely soft, and sounds like a storm that would lack bone density.

Yeah dude it's your list for real! Cristobal is your namesake and by the looks of it he may arrive in June!

Well we got Bertha today, can you believe it! 2nd named storm and it's not even June 1, plus Bertha came ashore north of Charleston, SC as a strengthening TS that was named just 2 hours prior to landfall.

Bertha really likes to visit the Carolinas! had she spent another day over the gulf stream we could have seen a hurricane impact there.

well folks, here we are on JULY 30 and looking at ISAIAS!!

I bet none of us ever thought we'd be at the dreaded 'I' storm this early

Despite this, it IS looking like Isaias will be a 'biggie' for 2020 afterall, due to the likely land impacts he will bring in the days ahead. Something tells me this too will overperform and go beyond a Cat 1, perhaps even go for Cat 3 at some point. We'll see, buckle up y'all.

I was thinking Hanna would be a Big One, and in a way, it was. It wasn’t the most impactful thing out there, but it was significant enough. But like everyone else I didn’t expect to be blowing through names even faster than 2005. At this rate, names like Marco, Nana, Omar, and Rene are more likely to end up as a powerful and destructive ASO major hurricane in the likes of Matthew, Irma, Michael, Dorian, etc.

True indeed Aspen, I would say you were right about Hanna, about as biggie as you can get in July on any given year! We might want to look at the latter names too, Marco might have his chance this season, and the others thru Rene and even up to Teddy.

I will say this: The Cat. 4-5 beasts (of which there should be a few given the expectations for this season) can be any name from Josephine onward except "Nana," "Sally" or "Teddy." The only word that should go before "Sally" is "Mustang."

Nobody wants Nana to be a big one.

So Nana will be one of the big ones.

I'm going to predict that Marco and Omar will be the "biggies" just because they sound much more threatening than any of the other names.

My original thoughts was Isaias would be our first major hurricane threat though it did catch many off guard in the Carolinas and NE U.S.

Now I’m going with Kyle, Marco, Omar, and Vicky for potential major biggie in terms of threat and impacts. I’m feeling a Western Caribbean monster-like vive potentially in October with Icky Vicky! :cheesy:

I think Kyle is going to catch a lot of people off guard.

Looks like it mrbagyo! Laura also stood out to me as one of the few female names this season that could be significant. Perhaps "Bay Laurel" will be a biggie afterall, her current track, ability to survive the mountains of Hispaniola and Cuba and its forecast track is, to me at least, chillingly close to the 1900 hurricane. Not saying Laura will be THAT bad, but man it's kind of eerie. Hope it's no more than a low-end cane.

If the EURO is right so will Nana. She’s looking like a long track CV that should form around 8/29-8/31

Laura became a Biggie,
Nana - not so much but it attained Hurricane status (but yeah, not so much).

Sally - this wave inside Africa looks interesting.
