Those are great views of it.But unfortunatly you will lose it soon as it moves away from radar.

in the middle of that pic you will see a "bullseye" with line drawn radii expanding from it. the center of that "bullseye" is the marker that jschlitz has placed onto the picture several frames ago. compare the location of the center of circulation to the center of the picture/"bullseye" and you will see the movement is WSW.

the "bullseye" is almost more like a dart board and the marker is a very small red dot almost covered by the yellows of the radar

No, I've been periodically placing markers (see previous pages) in the center and turning on the range rings (you can do that in GRLEvel3). Then I use that marker as a reference point to see which direction it's going - so in the next image(s) the marker is no longer in the eye - but you can see how the storm has moved in relation to the previous center.

Now it's not 100% exact because it is a radar estimate and it doesn't take into consideration the curvature of the earth, but at that latitude, for all intents and purposes, if the storm in the next frame(s) is south of the marker, it's still drifting WSW.

Marker recentered. Check back tonight to see where Katrina is in relation to marker.

Dinner date with wife :-) I'm buttering her up b/c I have a feeling little sleep next few days. Very, very concerned this will be worse than anything we've seen in 2004 or 2005.

How do you determine the center of circulation?

Based on the the radar images - you can see the center in the last image is SW of the center from the image posted previously.

I also look at satellite before placing the marker just to confirm the correct location.

New marker/center fix placed for future reference.

Couple of comments - the western eyewall presentation is actually better and the storm is now further away from the site. It definitely looks more organized.

Second - I never thought it would be at the same latitude as the 7 mile bridge.
