I am going with late June. I think it will be a slow year but there will still be a storm that comes on early and gets everyone all excited for a big year and then we will have the LLOOONNNGGG wait for the next storm or two and everyone will freak out on here. haha

Unless they were offline for the last 4-5 months, I can't see how anyone can be excited for this Atlantic season. Even then last year should have fully snuffed out the rest of the enthusiasm any of us had left.

I went with July 21st-31st, but feel like there is a chance we may not actually see our first named storm till sometime in the first half of August a lot like in 2009 which was also an El Niño year as well an is considered one of the analog years for this season.

Just like in 2009 there may be a quick tease in early June where a system may try a make a run for Tropical Depression status but that is about it until Late July/Early August.

Early season storms do not mean that a quiet season will not happen though. Models suggest the worst of the conditions will be in the peak hurricane season and beyond...

I'm guessing late June with a tropical storm in the Caribbean.

First week in July. Will possibly put a damper on someone's July 4th activities.

Hurricanes are an amazing natural phenomena. While many are spiraling pits of evil that kill people or cause devastation, some are tame and stay clear of land.

I wish for you to :Bcool:

I'm going to agree with Rock and say in late July myself. Probably somewhere in the last 10 days.

June 3rd.

We usually see a spurt of energy to start the season off before a drought til August.

Hmmm? Definitely keeping my "$2.5 Million dollar wager", LOL on June 11-20 for 1st named storm of the Atlantic 2014 season.

At least based on present GFS on again/off again modelling, it looks like good chance of a near repeat of T.S. Andrea June 5-10 2013. Could be close either way between those guessing between June 1-10 and those guessing June 11-20.

 Now, for the "no guts no glory" category of "when will the 2nd named storm form in the N. Atlantic basin"....
I'm gonna go out on a limb and ALSO go with June 11-20!; all this before a likely month or two hibernation, LOL

While things look active now, my guess is Aug 11-20. There is just something about the way conditions are setting up that tells me the Sahara dust and shear will cause havoc with storm formation during June and July.

71 members have voted. Now let's see in reality when the first will form. I think those who voted early June have an advantage now if the models are right.
