A tropical wave is along 16W, from 17N southward along the African
coast. The wave is moving westward at 15 kt. Scattered moderate
to strong convection is noted from 07N-17N extending 300 nm on
either side of the wave. At this time, the scattered moderate
strong convection is affecting Senegal, the coast of Guinea and
Guinea- Bissau.

I have a feeling looking at everything that we are going to see a strong Vort on visible in the morning popping out. may try to make a run for development before the shear keeps up.

yeppers.... I hope no one will be surprised in the morning...
even if it does close off and develop now it will get sheared from the east for many days. but it will increase redevelopment as it approaches the islands quite a bit.

Looks pretty impressive with cyclonic rotation clearly evident:

Note the Euro keeps the vorticity in tact all the way through the 10 day run and it gets a bit stronger near the islands. I have a feeling we will be watching it for a while.

On the NHC site there's a GENESIS system meaning they are looking at it. Likely, the NHC is waiting for development to get w/in 120 hours to put any chances on it

Looking at Euro and tracking 850mb vort, it seems it is onto this one.
Good closed circulation on the coast.
Opens it up at about 40W.
Then starts to close it back up at 50W.
Takes it over PR and spins it up in the Bahamas.

Looking at IR, massive convection south of 10N with obvious cyclonic circulation.
Mid-level circulation very broad and convective debris creating a large-area moisture envelop around this, washing out SAL.

Looks very impressive on morning vis. Might be quickly trying to make a run easterly shear is coming though..

Ummm.. so yeah I wish there was a good ascat pass. .. at least from sat we have a closed and approaching a well defined tight circ with convection slowly building around it. Quite impressive considering..
Shear has picked up but that is not a requirement for genesis.
Amazed there is not even a mention of it..

A potent eastern Atlantic Ocean tropical wave is along 19W, from
18N southward, moving W at 10-15 kt. Scattered moderate to strong
convection is noted from 08N-10N between 17W-22W. Elsewhere from
07N-15N between 15W-25W, isolated to scattered moderate
convection is present. The wave is well-marked by 700 mb trough
diagnostics, and large scale curvature is noted in satellite
imagery.
