Rob8303 posits "evacuations from KW to NC..." ??? I doubt that's intended as panic-mongering, but nevertheless, the factual basis for evacuations should be mentioned:

Civil evacuations for hurricanes are tied to official NHC forecasts and warnings. An NHC warning applies to an area where hurricane force winds are likely to arrive within 24 hours, basically.

Look at the wind field of any storm, and where landfall is forcast. Safe to say NHC never incites evacuations by posting hurricane warnings for anywhere near 1,000 miles of coastline. That would make them look pretty clueless, dontcha think?
