80-90 Mph winds. Daytona Evacuation officals think so.

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

You are correct, mrschad, Brevard County opted not to close schools, but my Pre-K grandson is definitely not going and his parents are bringing him to stay with me. Crazy since so many of our kids have to ride buses across highrise bridges to get home to barrier islands.

St Johns and Duval aren't closed

#24 Postby GrimReaper » Thu Aug 12, 2004 6:16 pm

Mrs. Chad......St Johns and Duval county schools aren't closed for tomorrow. The "eye" or what's left of it is supposed to come right over us, but not till late late Fri night, or early Sat morning. But still they say the weather could start deteriorating with rain and high gusts as early as 4:00pm. I would think in the thought of safety, and keeping traffic off the roads, they would keep our schools closed.

Wonder how much notice they have to give to close the schools? I live in NE FL (near Jax), and am wondering if they could decide to do it in the morning - like with the 5 am advisories?

Oh - and I'm a newbie here. Followed the link from HurricaneTrack - so 'hi y'all!'

I'm wondering if they're going to close our jobsite early tomorrow? If it was up to me we'd close it down at noon so people can get ready. They'll most likely have to stop work on Saturday too.
