We will get us where we need to be guys and gals.. We just cant do to much right now.. We dont want to take chances of upgrading and running into a problem and take the chance of not being up for Ivan and landfall.. Believe it or not this site saves lives and we just cant take the chance.. We will continue to bandage up along the way till Ivan is gone. Trust us we want it to work right more then any of you.. We have to sit here 24/7 and "babysit" the server untill its done.. Not fun.

Ok, I know you are trying to eliminate as much as you can to keep the server going for everyone, which we all appreciate.

But, where did some of the 'sticky' threads go? One in particular that I was coming back to was the list of helpful things to prepare. Another was the Pet friendly hotels. Perhaps they could be compiled into a list somewhere with a link?

Just a comment from a newbie... but if images are linked from other sources they shouldn't represent a drain on the Storm2K server. It's only really an issue for attachments, which I believe the admins can dissable. --c

Good point.. They are wothy threads.. At the same time we try not to keep to many stickies up top as it can get messy for members.. How about I do this.. I find the threads and link them from the home pages for everyone?

Linked images are fine and don't cause a problem. :-)

Okay thanks. This board doesn't seem to support attachments so you shouldn't really have a problem with images after all...

P.S. Thanks for providing this place, it has been quite excellent for following these storms. --c

Would it help to still keep the site free, but require membership to log on?

We switched the Hurricane Hollow forum to members only a couple of hours ago. We hate to do it but felt is was necessary to provide the best quality service for our members.

Might I suggest the stickys all get moved to new forum?
Make one focused on prepartion/recovery from bad weather.
It could be used during hurricanes, blizzards, tornadoes, etc.

You guys do a great job on this board, and yes a lot of people have become anal during this 2004 season. That's to be expected with this many hits. I agree with deleting old post. You may want to try it in the middle of the night when there are not as many people on the board. Just some advice, and keep up the great work at s2k.

Hey, New here.
I'll only post if something pertinent comes up. I know zip about the weather so I'll just read the posts and leave the rest to the pros.
Thanks so much. This site was invaluable during the canes.
Peace.
