The Cantore curse is gone - Houston was spared by Rita. Probably though Cantore knew it would be so he wanted to ride it safe.
BTW I haven't heard from him on TWC for a long time, did he come back to Atlanta or something?

I guess the hurricane magnet "demagnetized" somewhat when Katrina made a beeline for him?
I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to be in this one too much at all, he's had enough. Perhaps he did decide to go home or get some sleep.
Anyone watch Anderson Cooper's coverage from Beaumont on CNN last night? I was just waiting for any one of those reporters to get creamed, including Anderson himself. I can't believe the only safe building they had to go into was one that some city employee took pity on them and opened up to give them refuge.
These guys could take some lessons from Jim Cantore on how to find a safe place to broadcast from. At least when he got hit with storm surge, he was in a 4 or 5 story solid building and could evacuate up.
