With any luck, the worst this will do is provide some rain for coastal counties from NE FLorida through SC. Chances of it intensifying are very low, even if it does gain some tropical characteristics. I know at least some of the NHC forecasters are strongly in the cold-core low camp, so the odds of it being called Andrea are low at least tonight. It'll probably slowly spin down and eventually move out to sea.

Is there any chance it creates enough instability to support scattered
to widespread thunderstorms fed by afternoon heating
later this week across Florida?

Very good question! I did hear on the local news tonight that instability was in fact something that they are expecting and that rain chances could be better later this week, at least for north Florida.

Sitting just outside of Savannah, WAITING for some rain! Not a drop here so far, but we'll take anything we can get.

It's pretty dry there in Tampa. Will be hard for the rain to build that far west. You might get lucky and see a few showers, though.

Well, convection's deeper than it was, if anything... still quite weak though. Also not much near the centre.

This system might end up bringing FL/GA more problems than relief, considering the strong winds. It needs to build up more precip to even tame those fires.

Can't sit outside here tonight although the temps are wonderful, the smell of burning, or should I say 'charred' wood makes your eyes burn. Smoke seemed to rise for awhile earlier this evening but it is back in full force tonight. It is though it has permeated into my nose, I smell it 24/7 now...

Convection is lacking near the center. If this thing is going to become Andrea, convection has to build near the center, and time is running out.

I can see this possibly being one of those storms they decide to award S.T.D. or weak S.T.S. status to after hurricane season.

The best thing to do right now is to go to sleep and wake up early tomorrow to see how the system has progressed during the night and if the NHC will the send the RECON to investigate the storm. Between now and then, there is nothing else to do but wait

It's too early for that! At least for me :P

By the time I get up, recon should (hopefully) be on their way!

Looking at that loop cycloneye posted it looks like the system is opening up, clear skies filling in the center of the storm.

I don't know about Extra or Sub Tropical but a true tropical system will have Lots of sinking air around it's preriphery. So if doesn't move in your direction it may be more of a problem than a solution.
That said, I sure hope drifts in yall's direction.
