@pppapin
Interesting changes on #radar w/ the disturbance off #Texas coast. Convective complex that developed last night is starting to show signs of cyclonic rotation w/ bands developing on reflectivity. Entering the next stage of development from an #MCS-->#MCV

Good to have you back, Aric. And Cyclone (Luis) just posted a report which appears to confirm your observation.

The Euro now shows a 1007mb low pretty much going right over my house... Here in Victoria we may get lucky and have the center come over us and may lessen the rain since it will be all north and east...

Re: Disturbed Weather in NW Gulf
The dry Texas air mass has been keeping rain totals low on the south side of the circulation thus far.
Houston could take 7" of training bands without too many problems and the models calling for 20"+ were probably not counting on a dry air mass with the weaker circulation factored.

Definitely a circulation near Corpus Christi, according to radar.

Wondering if I could get a model update. Meaning....will this system come on in and penetrate the coast, or hang up in the coastal waters?

It could be a possibility, it would not be the first time that models show the vorticity to move onshore but instead it hangs around the coastal water and strengthen.

Pretty heaving band training over Chambers and Jefferson counties. Should see several inches in these areas over the next few hours.

Re: Disturbed Weather in NW Gulf
Looks like some even heavier bands down by Brownsville offshore... this thing may be taking off and could strengthen into a minimal storm if it remains stationary...

So, so far the heavier rain bands have been further south and coastal? Looks like the Greater Houston Area has been getting minimal rains so far.

Here are the Greater Houston Area totals for the last 24 hours. So far, that's very manageable amounts. Any hard numbers for Beaumont?

Re: Disturbed Weather in NW Gulf

Absolutely. We will see how it unfolds tonight if that band holds together and transitions towards Houston. So far, it has been just enough to water the grass for a day lol..
Beaumont airport hasn't recorded a whole lot per this station:

But parts of that area are under flood warnings

About 2.25” in 24 hours in Lumberton, Hardin County, just north of Beaumont. Hoping not a Harvey, with 50+ inches around us then.
