What makes you think she is slowing? But you are right, the models are clustered around Matagorda. Will they trend slightly South or North is the question and makes a hell of a difference for the Houston Metro Area.

I didn't say anything was pointing anywhere, he said he knew it was not coming to Corpus.

You will see what you could never Imagine...And what i see is the need for you to get your bags packed and to get the gell out of Galveston Period..There will be npothing left if it landfalls just south of you...

I am not on the Island, I am on the mainland between houston and galveston. I am still in a big, big debate on if I am going to leave, mainly because the path is towards corpus. As far as bags and animals I am packed and ready to leave.

There is no path Twards Corpus..I don't know what the heck your looking at but his Storm is Coming to you .no ifs ands or but about it...Galvestona and freeport Area will be devistated..

Wow, so your the one with the flux capacitor. You know that thing that makes time travel possible. Corpus has the 2nd highest % according to NHC strike possibilities. And models have shifted south since that advisory.

OK if it hit Corpus(Doubfull) or Freeport Wouls it matter now..The point is you do not put your life into Jeopardy..If it misses you come home and thank god for what could have been and if it hits you come home thanking god you were not there...Period

I wish we could just laugh and make lite of it, but unfortunately it's far too serious and sad to see this coming again.

For Scott and all the others whose nerves are on edge and feeling sick, I feel your pain. May I suggest that rather than sit here on the computer and glued to the TV, get up and "do something" to get prepared. Car filled? Gas cans for generator? All small electronics charged? Do you have all of the extra components for those "toys"-very important in the case of cell phones, laptops, etc. Bag ice cubes and clean out coolers. Are all of you clothes washed-might not have a chance for a long time? Finally, do you have enough water, food, meds, camping equipment etc? If you have the means and have a small car, try to rent a van for a few days so you can get as much as possible in and also have a place to sleep if you should get stuck somewhere on the way (it may not be too late if you act quickly). Have current maps of the routes you anticipate taking. Let loved ones out of the area know your plans.

Make a plan and try to stick with it. Gather those possessions most dear to you while it is still early. Pictures, etc. that can not be replaced, important papers, anything you don't want to live without. If not done already, take pictures of your home and its contents. I have found that being proactive helps keep the jitters at bay especially when you realize that you are going in forward motion and not just sitting there fretting. Good luck to all of you. I'm afraid you are in for the storm of your life but we at S2K will be here for you.

Look how in the last frame her CDO just seems to "explode" outwards.

Huuricane queen just wrote the best post anyone looking for information about Rita's position if they are worried because they are in the path. That was the best and most practical advice for weathering a storm. Surving a storm involves much more than outlasting its landfall, it is surving the aftermath in the weeks to come that takes courage and preserverence and having completed what she listed will increase your chances significantly. Everyonre in a storms path would heed that advice there would be no deaths or riots but unfortunately the human race is ignorant on average, as seen from Katrina.
