When you have just about every reliable model developing this wave and moving it west even through the long-range, its very likely we are going to see a named system, potentially a true Cape Verde hurricane moving west. The ECMWF and GFS continue to show a signficant system, potentially a major hurricane moving through or very close to the Leewards run after run. Additionally, the ECMWF and GFS bring the system past 60W and south of 25N, which can potentially create landfall impacts for the CONUS down the road.

Details will change of course but one has to look at model consenus, trends, and the general synoptic setup which may allow a signficant system, to impact land down the road.

For that reason, this one is getting all my attention at the moment.

Huge anticipation and some over reaction are expected when it is August 12th and we have had only 2 TD's and no named storms.

  Thats an impressive train coming off africa.

Just wait in 10 days when all that pacific energy is over it

I can respect that....but you need to respect some peoples passion for the tropics....some of us live for this time of year.....2 months out of the year I enjoy watching, tracking and informing. Its an exciting time for me and for others...

Well I can understand. But as a florida resident who went through 2004. You do not really wanna be there. It is a terrible thing.

edited the futuristic off topic junk about hurricanes being destroyed by fleets of planes

Well I can understand. But as a florida resident who went through 2004. You do not really wanna be there. It is a terrible thing. Hurricanes days are numbered. One day in our lifetimes hurricanes will be defeated by human beings. We will find them at the early stages of cyclogenesis with more advanced models than the ones we have and destroy them with technology before they become a threat to anyone.

The technology isnt there yet. But it will be. The hourglass is 1/4 empty. I honestly cannot wait. I hate these storms and I am strictly here so I am one step ahead of the rest of the citizens and looking out for my family

Mark this post. Our grandchildren will live in a hurricane free world.

Still ot here, but AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! If it does all heck will break lose as tc's are mother natures way of cooling the tropics. Don't mess with mother nature!

Now let's take this back to the discussion of the wave of the future.

It may be OT but. Hah. Hurricanes are just clouds and vulnerable in there infancy. Anyway no more talk about this. We can take it too OT maybe but agreed. End of discussion. Editing my post so not to incite more.

How will we destroy them? It seems to me that we need fossil fuels and other resources to do that - they will be in scarce supply when our grandchildren are the age we are now.

I certainly don't want to see these hurricanes come. I don't want them coming up the East Coast because I live near the East Coast. I don't want them in the GOM because gasoline prices will soar and shortages may develop. I am hoping they stay away and go fish or peter out.

The last thing we humans need to be doing is to be tinkering with Mother Nature. The unforeseen consequences could be catastrophic. We need to let nature take her course, as terrible as it might be.

And, yes, I went through all three hurricanes that hit Central Florida in 2004. Not a pleasant experience.
