Near total agreement now from the models for a recurve and probably quite a strong hurricane as well if it comes off as progged.

Its the wave behind I feel maybe more of a threat...

GFS has it near the Cape Verde Islands in 72 hours, on the coast in about 48.

Here is what is going on with the wave. Convection has gone down but the circulation remains. That could mean development may be delayed if it continues this way vs the GFS scenario of a quicker developer.Lets see what occurs when it finnally emerges on tuesday.

I agree. Watch out for the 2nd one to roll offshore. First one may well develop into a hurricane, but it may recurve out to sea earlier.

Personally, I think today is a very exciting day from one who has watched these storms for 30+ years..August 15th traditionally marks the beginning of the Cape Verde season and with the peak right around the corner I guarantee the "boredom" card will be a distant memory a week from today. In fact, the pot is beginning to simmer and this upcoming week alone may feature the development of several systems...The calm before the storm is just about over...Welcome to the 2010 Hurricane season...

Well, only the first wave is forecasted by the models at this time to be a fish, but I think because the 2nd wave has quite a bit of time before it comes off shore is the reason this thread is so dead right now...

I know it's way too early to speculate, but can you imagine if all the models pulled away from the development on both of these waves?? If that were too happen, you would somethings strange is up with the tropics this year...
