Anyway, anyone know when the next plane, hopefully with working coms, is going out?

The NHC is official, if they say it's a cat 5, it's a cat 5. Weteher it "really" is or not is irrelevant right now. It's really really really really close if it's not.

Also, Dean's NE quad has actually been registering his highest winds during his entire lifetime.

That's correct.

They are, I never said the strongest winds were in the NW quad. I said winds in the NW quad > NE quad.

the right side eyewall is always the strongest. So in this case, storm moving just north of west, NW is about the same as the NE, with odds favoring the NE just slightly.

Could you let us know if the current aircraft is still flying, or if there is another one enroute?

Seriously, that's not funny.... we have one plane grounded for fueling problems.

On 5300 we had a major problem heading into the storm, and for crew safety, they had to turn around and abort the 12z. I'm not going into detail.

Nope not this time around.... Out of 3 planes, only 1 is storm flyable.... that plane was on the 00z,06z fixes and didn't land before 5300 took off.

There should be a plane to get the 00z and 06z fixes.

Those pilots must have brass balls. I have to be medicated to fly commercial.

Frustrating as it may be for everyone... its 1000x worse for the forecasters and CARCAH at NHC and us.
