If you actually try and form a track based on the position of the 5 day mark, and the high is as strong with no weakness. This is a Matagorda and south storm..

As with Rita, it still to far out to get overly nervous about Chris. IMO, we need at least another 3/4 days before there is a real reason to sound any alarms.

Of course AFM's wife being sent to Wal-Mart does cause a little concern...;)

Just precaution to beat any rush. I know the media and once they start HYPING (which I figure will start tomorrow or Friday...the shelves will start to be cleaned out). See...by Friday/Saturday morning...the NHC will have to place the 5 day point. If it is anywhere NEAR us...it will be a mad house. She will have to do it because I will be too busy here. I don't want to put her thru that...and if it doesn't come close...

I can always use the stuff to camp with.

Totally agree AFM...

Remember last year when we were in the bulls-eye of a bonafide cat5 hurricane, three days out...

Now look at how the reaction is over a TS 7 days out...

Cheers to having extra camping supplies...;)

Yep, I'm headed to the store this afternoon. Will also gas up the tank before prices sky rocket which I predict will happen by Sunday. I refuse to fight the crowd.

Let's assume this potential bad boy heads for the Texas coast. How soon could we expect impact if it remains at it's current forward motion?

Just a guess, but I'm thinking a Wed/Thu landfall.

Wed/Thurs.....well, at least that means off-work time.....

I gotta get gas on the way home anyways .... sounds like I will be hitting Petco, Target and/or HEB before the day is over.... Theres no way I'm waiting 'til this place becomes a madhouse again. Took me 3 hours and 5 stores to find an extra pet carrier before Rita .... I am not doing that again!!!

My kit needs refreshing anyways. If AFM is doing it, I better get to steppin'! :P

On another note, is the ULL still progged to move over us. If so when and will it be accompanied by some drenching rains?

I know, I know...I said:
"We suffered in a way that was unique from those who were hit. Sure, we were lucky and we didn't "suffer" as much. But we were definitely affected."

I know, you guys went through hell. But our evacuation wasn't exactly peaches and cream.

Don't worry...I have a bullet with my name on it for the next storm.

Frank B. on Channel 2 in Houston said the low over west TX could actually help to turn the storm more northward once it get's close to TX. He highlighted all of SE Texas and SW Louisiana as a potential target area.

great...

Thanks for the update EWG. I'm still at work.

Frank B. actually is pretty decent IMO. He's not afraid to tell you what he's thinking, right or wrong.

I just have to ask, did the newscast on KPRC begin with:

"BREAKING NEWS" - Trouble in the Tropics??

Touche on that one. Even though we complain, I've tried to imagine what it would have been like if the storm had come....what returning would have felt like compared to trying to get out. I really can't imagine it.

no, but they did say "all eyes are on TS Chris tonight" and then they brought up their "Troubles in the Tropics: Chris" screen and Frank went right on the air. I guess this is already their top story, but it is not quite "Breaking news" yet.

I just watched the 4 O'Clock news and I am kind of proud of them....they really only mentioned it in the weather! There were actual news stories on the news!

Well I went to Walmart today and bought a few flashlights... while they still have them in stock, and the secret is still not really out yet.... I might go back later in the week to get more,. I am going to go get gas later on, I need to fill up, might as well do it now... before it really gets stupid....
