George does a 90º turn and hits the biggest town on this very sparsely populated section of the Australian coast. Jacob does a 320 degree turn and heads for basically the same spot! Nows the time to buy a lottery ticket if you live in Port Hedland, I reckon!

I cant believe the Port Hedland area will be hammered again! This is very bad news. Imagine Houston, New Orleans, Tampa, or Miami being hit by a CAt 2 and CAT 3 the same week!

I can't see it happening anyway. There is no WMO designated tornado scale either by the way so different scales are used there as well.

I see your point but I think it's still a valid point. It will be great if everyone could use the same scale which should make things less confusing.

That's a double punch. What George didn't finish, Jacob will. P.K., keep in hand the website of the ABC radio station in Western Australia. It will be needed in a few days.

a category 4 on the aussie scale has sustained winds of

87-108 kts 10 min

in 1 min speeds that would be converted to

99-123 kts

The only difference is that Frances and Jeanne impacted Florida two weeks apart. But interestingly enough in both cases one system did a loop!!!
