Post Gustav Local Damage

#1 Postby crazycajuncane » Tue Sep 02, 2008 2:32 pm

This video I took shows how anyone can get damage. It's really been widespread around town. Mostly tree damage, but this looks like straight wind damage.

These apartments are in the same unit as mine. I live on the back side. Now they gave everyone written notes not to board or tape the windows, so I guess all they could have done is left a crack. I never thought about that when I left to go stay at the parents. There is also lots of that aluminum everywhere.

My grandparents lost a big tree, but they lost a lot more during Lili. I would say it just depends on where you live. Baton Rouge is saying this is worst than Betsy in 1965. The eye jogged a bit to the north of us and the storm came onshore east of us. We were spared a great deal of damage.

Hope you didn't get to much damage.I saw some video on the KLFY website.A guy was shooting some video as the storm was blowing in,and just so happened to catch a tree go down.Right through someone's house.Do they have power in Lafayette?Thoughts and prayers with everyone there.

Hello Skint,

Most of Lafayette has power. My apartment never lost power through the whole storm! Some people were without power as of late today, but they said all should be with power by Friday. New Iberia is not so lucky. They are mostly without power. I made it without damage, so things are good.

Thanks,
CCC
