Interesting trivia

#1 Postby Dave C » Fri Sep 19, 2008 10:50 am

Don't know if anyone else noticed this bit of trivia. On Sept 1 this year we had 3 systems that all made Us landfall on the map at the same time. Gustav was making landfall in Loisiana, Hanna was spinning her wheels north of Haiti and Ike was named a tropical storm on the 11pm advisory that eve. (Sept1). We've had several instances of 2 landfalling systems at one period... Bonnie and Charley and some others. Would be interesting challenge if anyone wants to research this and post results!

I was saying that 3 systems that made US landfall were active at the same time, not landfalling at the same time. Sept 1 they were all on the map at the same time.

I think 2004 had it as well:

Hurricane Frances - 8/24/04 to 9/6/04
TS Gaston - 8/28/04 to 9/1/04
TS Hermine - 8/20/04 to 8/31/04

Charley and Ivan just missed... the possibility of 5
