Bored? Tired waiting for that first named storm of 2009, which won't develop until the 2nd week of August? I came upon a web site yesterday with some very (VERY) high-resolution satellite loops of the 2008 season. It's Hurricane Alley 2008.
http://goes.gsfc.nasa.gov/text/hurrican ... _2008.html
Scroll down to the table of videos. At the top of the table are the lower-resolution loops, some with the storm names and tracks overlaid, some without. Toward the bottom is a massive 11.6 Gigabyte "Pro multi-layered master" version in 1080p. I tried downloading that one yesterday but had to leave for home before it finished.
I did get this 720p version at 1.6GB, and it's amazing enough:
ftp://goes.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/hurr2008/n ... 4_high.mov
And I got this 8GB 1080p version that's very impressive:
ftp://goes.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/hurr2008/n ... k_text.mov
But I am still curious about that "pro" version. Maybe I'll get it today?

Awesome wxman57, thanks. I wonder if I can burn these to Blue Ray?
