GOES 14 First Image

I am almost certain there must be another post on this by now, but I looked and couldn't see... (I may just be blind)

But the GOES 14 (previously known as GOES O) 2 days ago released it's first full disk vis image. Looks good.

Yep, that's us all right (note the sun glint in the middle of the photo) - some days you can see the moon "over the Earth's shoulder" in that photo...

Many in the public forget (or don't know) that the geostationary satellites are actually 1/10 the distance to the moon...

It is amazing how we are able to keep our feet on the ground on something like the earth - you'd think we'd fall off...
