It's very ironic how one of the most powerful typhoons to ever hit the Philippines, struck just months after they stopped the recon missions. Wow.

Well, this was from recon but it's no basin-wide routine just yet. 918 (extrapolated from 700mb & 850mb height)-911mb (reported) in Typhoon Nanmadol this year. I'm not sure how reliable a 7mb deviation from extrapolated pressure is, if anyone can tell me, but regardless, it was intense. I kind of wish they also flew into all those Philippine sea super typhoons but I can't really complain.
