Re: My local ABC station met
Maybe he was talking about Invest 90E, off the southwest coast of Mexico in the Pacific Ocean?
There's an interesting feature there in the Bay of Campeche (southwestern Gulf of Mexico) but I haven't seen the NHC mention it at all.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

In this mornings' Tallahassee NWS Area Forecast Discussion they made mention of the Euro showing a Low moving Northward from the Tropics to the coast of Louisiana but they are not buying it because no other model was showing this. Maybe your Met was talking about the same feature.
Excerpt from Tallahassee NWS AFD:
The GFS allows another frontal
system to approach from the northwest, while the Euro brings a low
northward from the TROPICS to Louisiana by Sunday night. Clearly
this latter scenario would bring a lot of WIND and rain to the
region. Other model solutions do not support the Euro at this time
and we will base this forecast largely on the GFS.
