2013 Houston/Galveston NWS Hurricane Workshop meet up
The 2013 Houston/Galveston NWS Hurricane Workshop is Saturday, June 1st from 10am -3pm at the George R. Brown Convention Center. I know at least 2 of us will be there either working or checking it out or both. It would be great if we could get a large S2K group together to meet up there and make our presence known. Hopefully we could get together after it for a bite to eat, talk, etc. Let us know if you are interested and we will try and get it set up. The link gives you all the info you need and you can register ahead of time(it is free). Let's get a large group together from all over Texas and Louisiana.

Don't know if I'll attend or not. May bike on by and have lunch across the street at the Lake House restaurant at Discovery Green. That is, if my torn bicep is healed by then.

I will be asking him to once again this year. I gave him the information last year when I talked with him. Hopefully I can get to him this year too so I can remind him or find out if he is able to. He wasn't sure if he was going to be able to last year since he had just taken the job when I talked to him and wasn't sure of "protocal" concerning it.

And if you are asking can he join us afterwards I will ask that question of him and Dr. Reid and whoever else we see/know. I am not shy that way and fortunately between me and some other attendees we do know several NWS mets and other mets in this area. Still haven't gotten any response from Larry Cosgrove.

No I am not going to the Impact Weather Seminar this year. Yes, I am pretty sure he will be presenting this year. He did the year I went. I'm not sure if Katdaddy will be there though. He is going on a chase tour in 16 days iirc.
You will not be a third wheel at all. We all have different levels of knowledge and yours is probably as good as or better than mine is. I hope you come!

VB is correct. I wont make it to the ImpactWeather seminar this year. I will be storm chasing on Tour 4B of the Extreme Tornado Tours during that week. Hopefully a pattern change in the next 15 days will lead to more active weather.

I believe they are having two symposiums this year. One focusing on the offshore area on May 14th and the second focusing on onshore interests on May 16th. Phil Klotzbach won't be presenting the 2013 outlook, as he's been out of the country for the past 3-4 months and only just returned to the U.S.

We haven't finalized that yet, but we won't have a booth. Currently I think we will plan to meet just past the registration tables inside the convention center. The other possibility is to meet outside in front. Stay tuned for finalization on this.

It's a Saturday, right? I have NO knowledge, so I absolutely intend to be a third wheel. As of right now, I really want to attend, and so I plan to!!

I was there last year too. I look forward to meeting you. Stay tuned for meet up place. My guess is we will have at least a sign with the group. I may have on my S2K cap and shirt(if it isn't too ratty). LOL at the free hot dogs!!

Will be working the HCFCD booth. It is a lot of work...I will be ready to go home and relax afterward. So much Hurricane stuff this year...it is un-real. Just getting ready for the season is as much work as getting ready for an actual storm.

Re: 2013 Houston/Galveston NWS Hurricane Workshop meet up
One place to meet for lunch would be right across the street from GRB - at Discovery Green park. The Lake House has shaded outdoor seating next to, well, the lake.
I stop by there all the time while on my bike rides. What time? The schedule below doesn't really allow for lunch, though 11am-12pm may be a good time (unless you need to see the talk on preparedness for people with disabilities). It would also be a good time as there won't be a line at the Lake House at 11am.
