This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Naming historic pre-1950 hurricanes?

#1 Postby Category5Kaiju » Fri May 06, 2022 2:29 pm

Just a fun thought experiment, but what if you had to name historic unnamed hurricanes human names like we do nowadays? Here are some examples that I personally thought of:

1900 Galveston hurricane (Storm 1, Even year): Hurricane Austin
1926 Miami hurricane (Storm 7, Even year): Hurricane Gregory
1928 Okeechobee hurricane (Storm 4, Even year): Hurricane Daphne
1932 Cuba hurricane (Storm 14, Even year): Hurricane Naomi
1935 Labor Day hurricane (Storm 3, Odd year): Hurricane Cynthia
1938 New England hurricane (Storm 6, Even year): Hurricane Francisca

I named several major storms that were Category 4 - 5 hurricanes between the years 1898 and 1945.
Here are some storms I named:

San Ciriaco - Hurricane Walt

The Great Bahamas Hurricane of 1932 (Storm #4) - Hurricane Helenice
The Great Cuba Hurricane of 1932 (Storm #14) - Hurricane Orchid

The Great Cuba-Brownsville Hurricane of 1933 (Storm #8) - Hurricane Dalva
The Great Tampico Hurricane of 1933 (Storm #14) - Hurricane Nadia

The Great Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 (Storm #3) - Hurricane Diamondra

Cyclones were named in random order from the Alphabet
