It looks like they've expanded the available data back to December 1966

It is amazing to be able to see the systems during the 1969 season and to watch the disturbance that became Camille Organize in the Caribbean just before it bombed as it moved into the gulf! It would be awesome if one day we find out there was a secret military program that goes back decades still to see storms decades earlier.

This is really cool indeed!

Went ahead and browsed it, saw there are some incredible GMS 3 IR and VS images from Nov 25 1987, from the time super typhoon Sisang slammed into the Philippines (looks like Haiyan!).

Just one example of really good shots from old storms from the 80s and earlier.
