When will Fiona form?

#1 Postby Category5Kaiju » Fri Sep 02, 2022 9:40 pm

Now that we have Earl, I suppose it would be appropriate to make a poll on some guesses on when we'll get storm number 6! Here are the options:

-September 4-8
-September 9-13
-September 14-18
-September 19-23
-September 24-30
-October
-November or beyond
-Never

Unless explicitly stated, all information covered in my posts is based on my opinions and observations. Please refer to a professional meteorologist or an accredited weather research agency otherwise, especially if serious decisions must be made in the event of a potentially life-threatening tropical storm or hurricane.

September 9-13. Fiona is the name of my sister's pit bull. Friendliest dog I know unless you're a frog swimming in the backyard. Let's hope Fiona the storm is like Fiona the dog and doesn't bother anyone.

I went with 19-23. I do think 9-13 is more likely, but what the heck.

Going with 9-13. It seems this just isn't going to be anywhere near as active as anticipated, we're only a little over a week from peak of season after which it's a downslope. This doesn't mean they can't have another 3-5 storms, maybe more than that (someone mentioned a shift to later season storms), but right now I just see them struggling to get the ACE to Average much less much above average.

September 9-13. The low that some models show as developing off the east coast. Short lived storm.

Voted 14-18. Seems rather unrealistic to not expect at least an additional storm or two before all is said and done. I know our expectations have naturally lowered with how much this season has sputtered up until late but it doesn't even necessarily have to be another hurricane, could just be short lived subtropical slop of some sort, which seems virtually guaranteed nowadays.
