Unless explicitly stated, all information covered in my posts is based on my opinions and observations. Please refer to a professional meteorologist or an accredited weather research agency otherwise, especially if serious decisions must be made in the event of a potentially life-threatening tropical storm or hurricane.
Re: Which system will become Hermine?
I'm voting for the wave over Africa, best looking system of the three at the moment. 99L looks less impressive than earlier today.

Re: Which system will become Hermine?
I think it will be the wave about to emerge off Africa. 98L is probably a few days away still from developing

Re: Which system will become Hermine?
Depending on how quick future 90L organizes, I think it could be that system. Which means 98L will probably be the infamous I name. Part of me hopes that it doesn't get the I name because we are starting to run low on those names...

The wave over Africa. And then of course as tradition demands 98L will become the dreaded i-storm.

Re: Which system will become Hermine?
Imo, it's going to be a race between the wave over Africa (looks like an insta-developer once it moves over water) and 99L. 99L looks like it might be a TC very soon, but I'd imagine NHC takes a while to bite. Meanwhile 98L probably won't get named for another 2 days or so.

I think future-90L has more chances than 98L

Voted 98L. 90L no longer looks like it'll develop given the large amounts of dry air and 99L could take a week to form if it does.

Re: Which system will become Hermine?
I'm still thinking 98L since it has a low pressure area and could be close. (Also, Hermine has a lot more replacement options...since 98L could be something memorable and 90L forgettable)

98L is looking like it might take the lead in this race, looks like it's almost a TD already

I also hope 90L becomes Ian so that the "I" curse can be paused and we can move on from that name...

The race is now even tighter! 98L is now TD 9 and 90L is now TD 10!

Re: Which system will become Hermine?
The 11am advisories expect both TD9 and TD10 to be at TS strength by 5pm. How does the naming work if that happens?
TD9 can also possibly get intermediate advisories, while TD10 is virtually guaranteed not to.

This has happened before. TD Nine would be Hermine and TD Ten would be Ian. In order of classification.
With that said, I think TD Ten will be Hermine since TD Nine’s circulation needs some work. NHC said they thought TD Ten’s intensity might be conservative which makes me think an upgrade is imminent assuming it doesn’t lose organization.
