ECMWF trounced GFS in 2023 and even CMC was better than GFS past 36 hours. I guess GFS has to be upgraded a bit.

We need a core change in the way the GFS is developed. They seem to be stuck in an infinite loop without making any real improvements. Not sure how much longer this can go on before a complete overhaul. Maybe a pro-met familiar with GFS development can chime in?
