2023 Tropical Waves

#1 Postby cycloneye » Mon May 15, 2023 11:31 am

According to TAFB, the first wave is out there. To keep the record for this thread that will be filled with all the waves, the first tropical wave was introduced at 12z on May 15.

This thread will have all the tropical wave details posted to not have this forum inundated with threads about all of them as all will be here so follow this thread to the end of season. If for any reason, I can't come to post like not having power or internet, anyone can continue the sequence of them.

Wave #1 on 5/18/23 at 12:05 UTC.

The axis of a tropical wave is along 22W, from 00N to 11N.
Westward motion is approximately 5 knots, in part due to weak low
to middle level winds. A slow forward motion is expected to
continue over the next couple of days. Upper level ridging across
the wave is supporting active convection described below.

Scattered to locally numerous moderate to strong
convection is noted from 03N to 08.5N between 15W and 26W.

That's a pretty healthy looking wave for this time of year.
