There is always a chance...but in this case I think it is slim. I believe she will be a 3.

Anyone willing to offer an opinion on how early we might begin to feel the effects, in inland coastal N.C. counties?

INland counties won't see much. It's the coastal counties of eastern NC that will get it. If you are more than 120 miles west of the track...you won't get much because she will be moving so fast. Also the motion will be NNW...and I think she will move right up the Cheseapeake. That has been my forecast since Friday and I better stay with it....no need to change now.

I'm about 30 miles from the Pamlico Sound and about 80 due west of Hatteras.

Just do not see her being a cat 3 at landfall. She is getting beat up right now.

That won't last. As the discussion said...when she touches that trough and starts to get some poleward outflow jets...it's like cranking a lawnmower...add the gulfstream to that mix and you can get some strengthening. I think she is getting some dry air entrained right now and she is trying to restructure to a more classic shape from what she has been. That takes time and doesn't happen smoothly.

Looks like we might get a lot of rain/wind in Raleigh if she does come just north of us
