Everyone take care of yourself up along the North Central Gulf Coast!! If they tell you to get out leave-and PLEASE don't stay in a mobile home!! I'll be extremely busy starting tomorrow so no time for much computer. I hope and pray for everyone's safety! Everyone take care of yourselves up here! Hurricane force winds extend out over 100 miles and TS force over 200 so it's going to affect a lot of people.
Take care-and I'll give a report after it passes. Hope to hear the same from others around the coast!

SirCane, I too am in Pensacola, (Pace actually just a hair to the east) I'll be packing and preparing tomorrow as well so I won't be around much. Headed to Troy, alabama to ride it out. Everybody stay safe...I"ll keep everyone on the Gulf Coast in my prayers. Wish us all luck, I think were gonna need it.

I too will be heading out (to Brookhaven) tomorrow. Got the stuff we need and all we can do is hope for the best. I'll try to logon from the laptop, but don't know about internet access. Everyone - please be safe and take this will all seriousness. I went through Camille in this very house 35 years ago - not sure if I'm willing to do it again - hence, we're heading north. Good luck to everyone.

Our prayers are with all of you in that region! Having just been slammed by both Charley and Frances here in central Florida, I truly wish that no one had to go through one of these scary storms. These were my 14th and 15th Hurricanes respectively, and I wish that they would be my last.
Again, God be with you, and we'll pray for this beast to somehow greatly diminish before it reaches the coast.

Take care Sir Cane and Sunny Thoughts!
I'm just to the north of Pensacola myself, and I'm also evacuating tomorrow. I've got too many trees that can, and likely will, fall on my house to stay here. It's been great talking tropics with all of yall! I've even had a few good laughs in the middle of all my worries. Hope to be back soon!

I'm in NE Pensacola by the airport property... Many trees and some live oaks that threaten my newly-built house. I've posted before that I personally nailed in my truss hurricane clips with over 2000 nails and I feel confident that the roof is as good as it gets for a traditional wood truss/deck construction. However, I know what a Cat.5 will do to the trees and no residential roof can take the enormous force of falling trees with much success.
Wife and I have plans to take kids to Orlando if landfall here is likely at current intensity. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will see some weakening with westerly shear and cool water upwelling in the next few days.
I normally get excited with approaching TC's, and I've lived through several here and on the Atlantic coast. But today and tonight has been really gut wrenching thinking about what could happen if it stays Cat. 5.
Good luck to you SirCane, and all in our area. We'll make it through...somehow.

Hello neighbors in P'cola---
This probably is my last post, as well. Tomorrow should be quite busy as things have to be wrapped up at work before we head out of town. We're headed up about 200 miles inland, near Montgomery. Hopefully things will be better there than they will be here in Mobile. But, I'm going to be a nervous wreck until we get back to see what's happened down here. The current forecast track up Mobile Bay is just too scary for words!
To everyone else on the North Gulf Coast: Y'all take care. Be safe.
I hope to be checking in again, soon, after this thing is over.
