Actually, this blob isn't that unusual. The blob isn't tropical in nature, and the low is in the mid to upper levels. The strong subtropical jet (that will prevent any chance of development) is causing the convection to fire. I wouldn't begin watching the low for tropical development until it moves into the Atlantic. Even then, tropical storm formation is highly unlikely. Possible? Of course.

Being on Florida's west-central coast I'm watching it for sure. The "little" storm that came through Friday dumped 6" of rain at my house. This looks like it could dump a ton wherever it decides to land. I agree that tropical formation is highly unlikely but it looks like a soggy couple of days coming here
