Gut Feeling

#1 Postby artist » Mon May 21, 2007 2:11 pm

I just have this gut feeling that something is going to try to pop up soon just
east and south of south Fl. GOES is up again and here are the coordinates
I am looking at.
Image centered at Latitude= 24.36° N Longitude= 77.23° W (X=327 Y=177)
animation of 10 loops - medium zoom
http://weather.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/goeseasthurr.html

For about a week this area has held my interest. Anyone else
have thoughts on this area? Nothing scientific, just watching it.
I promise this is not a wish cast either. I can't stand those!
There seems to be a lot of low level westard direction and
upper level eastward direction. I know - call me nuts! :)

There seems to be come convection in that area, but not sure if it going to develope into anything.. probably not.

Guys... its only May, and we have already had 1 sutropical storm and an aditional invest. We are already tracking waves off the coast of Africa.. and its only May! How will this season look like in August?

My guess is that it will either be really, really active or the season will end up peaking early and we will see a fairly quiet Aug/Sept/Oct.

Currently I am leaning more toward the first scenario.

I'm a beliver in that the first storms and activity in the early season if anything point to a season such as 2006. I truly don't belive it has much to do with the whole season as a whole. Just my thoughs.

I've got a gut feeling that we are going to see more than one strong hurricane dance about in the GOM this season.

The subtropical storm really wasn't that tropical when it was analyzed by the Hunters, and it came from a midlatitude and not a tropical origin. The invest really shouldn't have been an invest. Waves are perfectly normal this time of year. Nothing too abnormal :)

Though that was true in 2006, it certainly was not in 2005. 2005 featured a very active early season, and it ended up leading to the busiest hurricane season on record overall. With early season activity it can go either way...either active throughout, or an early peak.

Opal storm

My gut feeling is that between now and November something will develop between the coast of Africa and Texas.

I know, I know it's a long shot but just trust me on this one. :)

Well...my gut feeling with the caribbean waters very hot
one of the most active seasons ever...whether or not
it exceeds 2005 remains to be seen

Again this is NOT a professional forecast by me
do not trust it at all it's just a thought.
In fact it's a feeling not a forecast.

Well, my gut isn't feeling too good tonight. I had some catfish chips and I guess I ate a little too much :)

Seriously, my gut feeling is starting off the first week of hurricane season with a bang.

I have a gut feeling too. I think it is related to my "dun-lops" disease.

Texas, Louisiana & Mississippi for sure, do not want any Hurricanes of any kind. That is our request - someone please see to it that this order is filled!!! Florida would like a small tropical storm to stop the drought!!! Not sure about Alabama but, my guess would be that they are in with TX, LA and MS!!!

Good to be back guys/gals and it's great to see everyone speculating again.

It's always interesting but especially since Katrina and Rita drilled Tx/La/et al..

I predict that our regulars on here will predict anything that spawns will come directly into the GOM.

PS...My brother says (just getting ready for the 'Cane season)...

LOL...you know it! It'll either be directly into Tampa Bay, Galveston Bay, or right up the Mississippi River! :)

Hello to all. My gut isn't speaking yet this season but, ironically, a local weather forecaster's must be. He mentioned that one of the models has something in our area in about 8-9 days, Oh, joy!
