#1 Postby 'CaneFreak » Fri May 25, 2007 9:41 pm

INTRODUCING.................BLOB WATCH 2007 HAS COMMENCED......Ladies and Gentlemen I hereby declare that Blob Watch for 2007 Hurricane Season has now commenced....thank you and hope you have a nice day.....

For you newbies out there, blob watch means that every time a single area of convection has even a remote circulation to it, some airhead on s2k will find some comment to make about it and post it in this forum....happens EVERY SINGLE year....its a big joke 'round these parts....

I thought Wobble Wars were outlawed.

Well, they should be anyway. :P

Wobble wars? I fogot about those. Just don't get Blob watches confused with jiggles. One is a weather blob, and the other jiggles around your belly. Which, for health reason, bears watching. :)

Then there is always the guy or girl who repudiates the blob watching. This is known as anti-blob watchers... For the most part though, there is usually an equal amount of people who disagree with the people who are blob watchers. Then you have the other people who don't seem to mind either way. If you watch most of the Mets on this site, stay out of it all until something is official, which is probably on of the best ways to go about it.

I have seen quite a few times when the blob-watchers end up being right.

Ahhh, it's going to be another long season.

Is this post really necessary? Some airhead? Are you talking about some people who are new or who dont spend 24/7 on s2k? I have been here 3 years and pay S2K as well, I really resent this post.
It can really get serious around here when the hurricanes are active, I pay to come here for serious conversation about weather. I am not saying to not have fun, I love fun, but this post is geared to people who are not educated on weather. Maybe they do not want to be educated. I am well educated in alot of areas, but weather is not one of them and I am not and S2K airhead!
I come here to learn and be prepared.

That's what I am here for myself actually. Its kind of funny you say that because I actually was kind of serious about my post. There are a lot of people in here that jump at the first signs of convection they see and that is not what hurricanes are about. Persistence of convection is one of the keys to any hurricane formation. I hope you did not find my post offending as it was not intended to be. I am glad to see that some really are serious about what they learn in here and we all appreciate your donation to this site. However, I do truly believe that some people need to do some research before they start jumping to conclusions and posting a bunch of inaccurate information on the site. But, again I am glad I am not the only one that has the goal and purpose that you do for being a s2k member. :)

I can agree with this as well. I have been burned down at the stake a few times myself in this same situation.

It's a good idea to point out a blob especially if
the meteorological and atmospheric synoptics support
potential development, which is what I do each season.
If I see a blob and the synoptics appear favorable I
will point it out and indicate possibilities for development.
However, I have been wrong many times because I
sometimes misinterpret atmospheric data about shear.
So basically it's a learning process about storms for me.
I find meteorology to be a very powerful field of study in this day
and age.

I agree with Tampa Bay Hurricane... It's also an learning experience for me. Because of all my blob watching, I have learned when things are not good for development vs. favorable. Blob watching may seem ridiculous sometimes, it's probably a good thing.

well lets hope i am not reading to much into what you said above.. you "pay to come here"??? lets just make sure that you know thats not a requirement.. i am sure everyone here appreaciates your support of the site... as far as being called an airhead, if you are not one of the folks that watches every blob that develops, posts about it for days even when there is no model support and the mets here tell you to forget about it, and you continue to rave about the blob and stir things up, then it sounds like it was not directed to you.. it happens every year.. usually the same people about every blob in the basin... no matter how many times you tell them, they continue, it get old after a while.. considering i have been posting here since 2003 and shadowed the board for a few years..

And I am not saying anything is wrong with that....what I am saying is the blob needs to be CONSISTENT....such as the SW Carribean BLOB....all it is is troughiness and the blobs of convection are diurnal (they wax and wane with the heating of the day)....you can post all the crap you want to about it but the TC formation statistics are less than 5 % for it as all the mets have been trying to say this morning. Its all typical for this time of year. That is why the Carribean is highlighted for development this time of year. However you will notice that the shear is relatively high in this area as it is SUPPOSED TO BE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR...as it is not even June yet....but again there is nothing wrong with discussing it... I have no problem with that. Here is a link for the TC formation stats: http://www.crownweather.com/tropical.html; It is located at the middle of this page. It is called Current Genesis Probability. Check it out sometime...

youre right about the learning process.. but i have seen you post about the blobs and when people including the mets here tell you the conditions are not favorable for it, you dont beat a dead horse to death... so do, and thats the point i think of canefreaks posts...

I understand Noah's position on this as she wants information that is official from NHC or the pro mets and not these kinds of threads. However, what canefreak's message in this thread is about a few people who post that every cloud will develop into a storm. :) And if there is something of interest out there, then it's called Bears Watch:

Ok, maybe I was a little sensitive. :P I am glad to come here and learn. I do ask questions about blobs but do not give forcasts.
NO I do not pay to come here, I pay to support, Hence S2K supporter.
I got the point of the post :D
Its all good now.
