I am with you blue......I am so over it and I think everyone does look tired and worn out and people have aged, its sad. I don't know where I am anymore when I drive down the road...there are no landmarks left, no street signs, etc.....it makes me sooooo sad! But we are southerners and we will survive and keep on kicking, right?!

Not to change the subject, but I want to ask a question of ya'll that live along the coast, you may think it's strange, but it's something I have done every year since I can remember.


Has ANYONE seen a BLACKBERRY patch that has any berries on it worth a hoot?

I always pick blackberries and make a cobbler and a blackberry dumplin.......I can't find enough berries around here to fill up a cup! The salt water flooding killed most of the bushes and the ones it didn't are not producing anything. If we would have just had some rain after Katrina to wash away the salt water we might could have saved a lot of trees, shrubs and various other plants.

I didn't want to make a separate thread...it sounded too silly!

Idaho is not far enough north for me.....Canada maybe.

It was snowing as I drove north through Wyoming the other day, but no worry about Hurricanes. Sheridan seems like a nice safe place.

ours are just blooming and there are quite a few flowers. we'll see what happens.

I understand your frustration. You and your Mother lost your homes. That is stressful as heck!!

I have not heard if Spinnaker plans to rebuild. Now the Longfellow House is up for sale. With the sale, do they sell the apartments too? I have never understood that. I am surprised Dickie Scruggs has not stepped in to stop this sale, but then again, he lost his home too.

Beauvoir and the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library suffered heavy damage from Katrina. Both structures can and will be restored given time. At this time funds are being sought. Your personal contribution can be made to Beauvoir Relief, PO Box 7, Meridian, Mississippi 39302.

The Longfellow House was donated to Ole Miss by the Scruggs family several years ago. Ole Miss put it up for sale last month due to the cost it will take to remodel and fix it after the hurricane. There is a pending contract by the Drs Roth family who lost their home midway down Beach Blvd. The Longfellow Apts were separated from the House years ago and at the time of the hurricane they were owned by Representative Carmel Wells ... she has since sold them to Atty Roy Williams and others.
