No, it's not all you were saying, you indicted the whole city as being unsafe. Yes, there are some dangers there, but they are the exception, not the norm.

C2K - that is exactly what you said. I'm sorry, but it is.

Camille_2_Katrina wrote:NO isn't a family place... very dangerous. And it will probably remain that way for a long time... JMHO.

Sunny didn't quote you out of context. That's exactly what you said.

Yes, a rising murder rate sucks. But it doens't mean an entire city should be written off as not being "a family place."

I'm not shooting anyone. You seem to want to make N.O. out to be a horrible place and that is just simply not true.

For crying out loud, it is safe to go to more than the zoo and city park.

C2K, you posted the article and then don't seem to like what anyone responds with. Why not let the thread ride and see what everyone else has to say instead of replying to every single comment to counter it? If you haven't noticed, it's getting redundant and only bothering people.
Your opinion is clear. Just let it ride...

I feel no fear living here and I've lived here for years. A vast majority of murders occur in neighborhoods and areas that I have no reason to visit and I don't visit. Everywhere I stomp around from Uptown, to Downtown, to the Marigny, the Quarter, and generally safe areas. Yeah, we had a drunken murder on Bourbon St. night before last, but, that is extremely rare and it occurred at 4:00 AM...most well behaved individuals are home at the time of the morning asleep, anyway. I'm proud to live here and am proud to call New Orleans home.

The article didn't get you attacked. It was your later assertions that New Orleans as a whole is unsafe that were disagreed with. :)

C2K, that is not anything to scoff about for sure, but I won't tell you how many were killed in Houston, last night!!!! And it is basically for the same reasons there is a "problem" in NO. Gangs, "drug lords", etc. are always trying to establish or take over turf in the bigger cities. It is ongoing. It may be exacerbated in NO right now since I am sure some are trying to take over large areas while there is little resistance. It is unfortunately a sad part of llife in any larger city in the USA, and I am not only talking about huge metro areas.
