Of COURSE there are "tourism woes"... geez, we're only 9 months removed from the worst natural disaster in US History? I imagine San Francisco suffered from loss of tourism quite a bit after the 1906 earthquake, as did Galveston after the 1900 storm!
But ya know what? They BOTH came back bigger and better... and in its own time, so will New Orleans! And the beautiful Gulf coast areas along Mississippi, Alabama, and western Florida--always have!

Talk about tourism woes it will be awhile before our beaches spring back to life.I was talking to one of the old beach vendors there not even issuing permits this year.So it will be a flat summer thats just part of the recovery.I see where some brand new construction has started at the corner of 90 and Cowan Rd looks to be a Condo or Hotel.Once that phase starts where people can stay then the shops next but then the coast needs to make up it's mind about the FEMA ruling on building codes esp. Biloxi. We march slowly.

I go to the Quarter about once every 10 days on average. It's one of the safest places in the city. The only dangerous part is that you might trip over a cop and hurt yourself. And there's plenty of Jazz still being played in the quarter... every hour of every day. You are just misinformed and in dire need of a visit to New Orleans. But, I'm not offended. Thanks for your concerns, and I hope everything on the MGC is going well.

pretty sad.
What is wrong with AC/DC and Van Halen? If you don't like it then don't go over there. If you are not going to contribute, then stay away.
MGC, EVERYTHING has changed since the 60's and 70's. You can't expect things to stay the same. Wouldnt we be boring?

Yeah, it is a shame that people got greedy, took away the beautiful beachfront only to have Mother Nature reclaim her beauty. Now, here we go again. They are going to rebuild down there yet AGAIN!

We made it back from New Orleans safe and sound! Not once did any of us felt nervous or threatned. Nobody bothered us and we had the time of our lives! I LOVE New Orleans and proud that I live only an hour away. And can visit often! Storm2k New Orleans party of May 20th, 2006! A party that will NEVER be forgotten!

Yeah CG....last night made me proud to be a resident here. I was actually telling Trish that last night. There's no where in this country you can get that many strangers together, have that big of a party every night, and have pretty much everyone get along with each other. Nightlife in NOLA is really something special.

Guess it's a good thing we left the bullet proof vests and AK47s at home, huh

Yea, I'm not sure if we would've been able to get into Razoo's with that.

My point MGC is that things are happening and things are going to change some to our liking and some not so.What we build now will be a 100yrs from now viewed how we looked at the old houses built a 100yrs ago.We might not appreciate it but maybe our descendants will. Some people along the beach can build at the same level I guess they basically are self insured. The other note is that if your house was not leveled does that mean you have to elevate?I honestly have not looked at the answer to that one.For some of the old houses are still standing and people are rebuilding.

You got that one right CG!!! There is NO CITY on Earth where you can have a better time if you're just looking for fun and GREAT food, than New Orleans..... and I am PROUD as HELL to be from a family with roots in this town as deep as those of any oak in City Park--and that's a pun intended!

Something about that Loozyanna mud, or maybe it's that Rex Crawfish Boil, .... just gets in yer blood and there's NO gettin' it out!
